Worth the Miles
5 months agoThe Mill was deeply disappointing, especially given its history and the significance of this visit. I drove all the way from Utah specifically to visit before it permanently closes on January 1st, based on strong memories from previous years. Unfortunately, this visit represented a massive downgrade in nearly every respect. The food quality has declined noticeably. What was once flavorful and well executed now felt rushed, inconsistent, and lacking care. Dishes that used to be reliable no longer resembled what made this place special. Service was similarly diminished. Staff were not outright rude, but the attentiveness, warmth, and professionalism that once defined the experience were largely absent. It felt disengaged and transactional rather than welcoming. The atmosphere has also suffered. The space no longer carries the character or energy it once had, instead feeling tired and stripped of the elements that gave it identity. Knowing the restaurant is closing likely explains some of this decline, but it does not excuse it, especially for longtime patrons making a final visit. This was particularly disheartening because The Mill used to be a standout locally and a place worth seeking out. In its current state, it is not worth going out of your way for unless you have a very specific reason tied to nostalgia or closure. A sad and frustrating end to what was once a much better restaurant.

7 months agoI can not believe that I have lived in the tri-state area for 13 years and never heard of The Mill! The food was amazing. I mean it could have been because I was starving lol I could only finish half of the burger so I'll be eating the other half later to confirm, but I believe I will not change my mind. I will definitely be telling everyone about The Mill!

8 months agoStopped in before a show at the paramount. Ordered breakfast since the entire menu was available. Hard to mess up breakfast but this was a miss. Sausage came out “late” cause it was still being prepared. Bacon wasn’t even cooked. Eggs and potatoes were solid. No time to talk and get managers involved or comped but this should have never been served. Also my 13 dollar old fashioned possibly was an even bigger miss. Skimpy serving size, lack of sweetness and bitters. Will try and catch this place again due to it being local but it was a miss

8 months agoNew favorite place! A book store, a bar, and a cafe of sorts, this place had great service and a great atmosphere. Paid $26 for 2 great plates, quick service, and lovely wait staff. (Also went and played a game of chess in the back afterwards!) will definitely be back soon

9 months agoThe ambiance of this restaurant was reminiscent of a cozy bookstore with a delightful restaurant tucked inside. The shelves were adorned with an extensive collection of books, while other charming items lined the walls. Their menu offered a diverse range of dishes, catering to various tastes. As an avid Eggs Benedict enthusiast, my choice was an easy one. My companion opted for the breakfast bowl with bacon, and both dishes were exceptionally tasty, with well-balanced seasoning. I couldn’t help but notice a steak sizzling on a lava rock, promising a delectable culinary experience. However, the service was slightly slow due to the restaurant’s popularity. Despite the crowd, our waitress was incredibly kind and even offered an apology for any inconvenience caused. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast or brunch when visiting the area.

a year agoThis place is beyond amazing! It’s a bookstore on steroids. How do I even begin? When I first walked in, I saw local kid made items, puzzles and beautiful cutting boards. Then a display case of yummy homemade treats. They had soaps and homemade little book earrings (I got a Stephen King one!). For the aspiring artist, they had watercolors, acrylics and paint brushes. All very reasonably priced! The paintings on the walls were a thrill for me to see, painted by a local artist Elias Reynolds. Books galore throughout with wonderful little sitting areas to sit and enjoy. They even have a kids section which was so fun and beautifully decorated. NOW onto the food! My chicken salad on a croissant was so good and my daughter in laws omelet was spot on! Excellent, friendly service. Definitely will be back!

a year agoWish I could give 6 stars out of 5. Excellent food, atmosphere and service. Got “The Crew” with the truffle fries, excellent! For the table we got the chips and salsa which was fantastic. Chips looked and tasted homemade with their pineapple salsa. This is a must try when visiting Ashland!

3 years agoGreat spot to break the chain chain restaurant monotony in Ashland! Menu was perfectly sized with options for everyone, but not so many choices it feels like the Cheesecake Factory - they put thought and care into making sure the dishes they serve are high quality. Excellent, fast service when we visited with my grandfather on a weekday.
